The Garden City Police Department provides full service public safety and law enforcement services to its citizens and visitors. The Police Department employs 40 sworn officers supported by 5 civilian staff. Public protection is provided seven days a week, 24 hours per day. In conjunction with our community, the Department works to preserve the peace, provide a safe living environment, and ensure the protection of life and property.
Garden City's Police Department Services
Administration Division
Major Brian Hood, a 30-year veteran of the Garden City Police Department, is currently in charge of the Administrative Division. The Garden City Police Department Administration Division is an integral component of the department responsible for a gamut of support services vital to the overall successful, efficient operation of the agency. The responsibilities include: Accreditation and Certification, Training/Recruiting Unit, Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), Evidence/Property, and Police Records. Each component is responsible for a different discipline and is closely intertwined with the other. In short, the Division serves as the hub of the agency, bringing all aspects together.
Patrol Division
Captain Joseph Papp has served with the Garden City Police Department for over 27 years and is currently assigned as a Patrol Division Commander. He is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of patrol operations. The captain ensures that the division operates efficiently, meeting the community's needs through proactive and responsive policing.
Captain Shawn Myers has served the Garden City Police Department for over 26 years and is currently assigned as a Patrol Division Commander. He oversees the day-to-day activities of the division. The captain ensures our team is effectively deployed and that officers are well-supported in their duties while maintaining high standards of performance across the division.
Criminal Investigation Division
Captain Lindsey Talley has been with the Garden City Police Department for over 19 years and is currently assigned as the CID Commander. The Criminal Investigations Division primary responsibility is to investigate and follow-up on crimes committed against persons or property in the City of Garden City.
