About Us

Garden City is an ISO Class 2 Fire Department. It proudly serves and protects our community with professionalism, integrity, and dedication. Our mission is simple and unwavering: to safeguard lives, protect property, and enhance the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits Garden City.

Staffed by highly trained career firefighters and fire officers, our department provides rapid emergency response for fire suppression, emergency medical incidents, hazardous conditions, rescue operations, fire investigations, and disaster preparedness. We combine modern equipment, advanced training, and a strong commitment to public service to meet the evolving needs of our growing city.

Beyond emergency response, we place a strong emphasis on prevention and education. Through fire inspections, code enforcement, public safety programs, smoke alarm initiatives, and community outreach, we work proactively to reduce risk before emergencies occur. Our Fire Marshal’s Office partners closely with local businesses, developers, and residents to ensure buildings are safe and compliant with applicable fire and life-safety standards.

The Garden City Fire Department is deeply rooted in the community we serve. We believe in transparency, accountability, and collaboration with our citizens, city leadership, and neighboring agencies. Whether responding to an emergency, teaching fire safety in schools, or supporting local events, our personnel are committed to being visible, approachable, and responsive.

We are honored to serve Garden City—and we remain ready, every day, to answer the call.

Reducing Wildfire Risks For Your Home:

Every year, devastating wildfires burn across the United States. At the same time, a growing number of people are living where wildfires are a real risk. While these fires will continue to happen, there are things you can do to protect your home and neighborhood as well as your family’s safety.

What are the primary threats to homes during a wildfire?

Research around home destruction vs. home survival in wildfires points to embers and small flames as the main way that the majority of homes ignite in wildfires. Embers are burning pieces of airborne wood and/or vegetation that can be carried more than a mile through the wind, can cause spot fires and ignite homes, debris, and other objects.

Follow the steps below to make your home safer from embers and radiant heat:
