Public Hearing - Millage Rate

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

 
The City of Garden City has tentatively adopted a millage rate, which will require an increase in property taxes by 88.07 percent. 

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the City of Garden City, Council Chambers, City Hall, 100 Central Avenue, Garden City, Georgia, on July 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at Garden City, Council Chambers, City Hall, 100 Central Avenue, Garden City, Georgia, on July 13, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 7.581 mills, an increase of 3.550 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 4.031 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $225,000 is approximately $177.50, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $875,000 is approximately $1,242.50.
